SMC – Sub Vertical Bar Screen

The Sub Vertical Bar Screen (SMC) represents the optimal solution as the first stage of filtration in a state-of-the-art Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). This is a vertical bar screen designed to effectively separate suspended solids from the effluent. The system utilizes moving rakes to continuously clean the screening area and convey the collected material toward the upper discharge zone. The SMC is capable of handling flows up to 10,000m3/hr.

Structure and Operational Versatility

The SMC can be adapted to any civil structure or can be provided in the tank version. The standard installation angle is 75°, but the installation range is variable from 60° to 90°. Its design allows for fine or coarse screening, with spacing ranging from 3 mm to 50 mm. Operational dimensions are extremely flexible: the width can vary between 300 and 3,500 mm and can reach a depth of up to 20,000 mm. To optimize flow and separation effectiveness, the screen can be equipped with bars featuring different profile types, including rectangular, triangular, or teardrop.

 

Key Features of the Fluiteco Design

The Fluiteco design of the SMC is distinguished by its robustness, operational intelligence, and reliability, marking the consolidation of a significant development path for the company. The machine is entirely constructed from stainless steel 304L/316L, Duplex, and Superduplex.

Its reliability stems from targeted design solutions, such as the absence of moving parts in the lower section. Specifically, in the submerged zone, there are no gear wheels, but lower HDPE guides (High-Density Polyethylene). These guides, combined with an all-stainless steel roller chain fitted with bearings, ensure Optimized Movement and unimpeded comb operation. The structural design of this section, lacking complex components, is specifically engineered to channel the entire effluent flow directly against the screen, thereby maximizing filtration efficiency.

The system includes stone guards specifically designed for the Protection of the bars. Safety and Control are guaranteed by a torque limiter available in three different versions and comb movement sensors.

For Cleaning Efficiency, the machine is equipped with a scraper that cleans the combs themselves every time they discharge, ensuring superior cleaning. Finally, for Maintenance, all lubrication, adjustment, and inspection points are accessible to facilitate service operations.
