VXGR – VORTEX Grit Separator
The VXGR Vortex Grit Separator by Fluiteco is engineered for high-efficiency grit removal, utilizing a rotational flow system to separate fine sand, grit, and other heavy particles from wastewater. This system is versatile in its installation, as it can be integrated into a pre-constructed concrete tank or supplied as the VXGR-T model, which includes a dedicated stainless steel tank for greater flexibility in plant design.
The core of the process lies in the controlled vortex created by the mixing shovels once the gear motor is activated. This movement enhances the sedimentation process, ensuring that even fine particles settle at the bottom of the tank. The VXGR achieves an impressive 95% efficiency in capturing particles as small as 0.20 mm and can effectively settle particles as small as 100 microns. This high separation efficiency significantly minimizes wear and damage to downstream equipment, protecting the entire treatment plant’s infrastructure.
The settled grit is extracted from the bottom of the tank using either an air-lift system or a specialized grit pump, allowing for continuous and efficient removal without interrupting the flow. Despite its compact footprint and low space requirements, the VXGR system can handle significant flow rates of up to 140 l/s. For plants requiring a more comprehensive treatment, the system can be enhanced with optional oil and grease separation devices or an integrated grit classifying screw to optimize removal and dewatering in a single stage.
The Fluiteco design focuses on durability and customization. The unit is available in various grades of stainless steel, including AISI 304, 316, Duplex, and Super Duplex. Key features include a standard flushing system to maintain cleanliness and prevent blockages, optional rotation sensors for the mixing components, and the possibility of adding thermal insulation for extreme environments. With diameters available up to 6000 mm, the VXGR provides a reliable, high-capacity solution for both municipal and industrial wastewater treatment.
